EMBRAPII: Supporting business innovation

In the lecture, the EMBRAPII model, whose main focus is to help companies with their demands for innovation, will be presented. In this context, it will be discussed what the EMBRAPII model is and how it has contributed to strengthen the relation between companies and accredited ICTs (EMBRAPII Units). The model is differentiated by its agility, flexibility and risk and cost reduction for companies.

EMBRAPII — Providing funds to support Brazilian industry innovation

Social Organization connected to the MCTIC and to the Ministry of Education, provinding non-refundable grants to be invested in R&D&I projects demanded by brazilian companies.

EMBRAPII operates through cooperation with public or private technological and scientific research institutions, that are accredited as EMBRAPII Research Units. These Units focus on entrepreneurial demands and innovation projects that are in the pre-competitive stage.

The interaction between Academia and Industry is a challenging task everywhere due to their characteristics and goals which are quite difficult to be matched. In this talk a personal view of, let us say, some identified “matching conditions” will be pointed out and suggestions of how to conduct such interactions will be given. Suggestions to keep academic and industry-oriented activities in parallel and at competitive standards will also be discussed.
